M.S. Graduate Research Assistantships – University of Minnesota Manure Team | Fall 2025: Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture, nutrient cycling, and innovative composting? The Manure Team at the University of Minnesota is now accepting applications for three fully funded M.S.-level Graduate Research Assistantships beginning in Fall 2025.


🔬 Research Areas

Graduate assistants will contribute to one of three cutting-edge manure management projects:

  1. Manure Application Strategies for Alfalfa
    Optimize timing and technique to improve alfalfa productivity and soil health.
  2. Nitrogen Credits from Manured Alfalfa for Corn Production
    Study nitrogen cycling and fertility carryover in rotational cropping systems.
  3. Liquid-Solid Separation and Composting to Remove/Inactivate Weed Seeds from Dairy Manure
    Investigate composting protocols that support weed control and sustainable manure handling.

🎓 Program Details

  • 💰 Fully Funded M.S. assistantships (stipend + tuition support)
  • 🗓 Start Date: Fall Semester 2025
  • 🏫 Department of Soil, Water, and Climate – University of Minnesota
  • 🌱 Emphasis on real-world impact, applied science, and environmental sustainability
